Thin Pizza Crust Recipe

I can't be the only one that is tired of eating tortillas or pita pizzas… My solution was to create this ultra-thin pizza crust. Fits one 10" round pizza pan. You can make it without yeast, look at the bottom of this recipe for directions.

Ingredients

  • 25 gram all purpose
  • 20 gram whole wheat flour
  • 26 gram Lukewarm Water
  • 4 gram Applesauce Unsweetened
  • 2.5 gram Yeast Fast Rise
  • 1 dash Salt

Instructions

  • Carefully measure out and add all ingredients to a bowl. Mix together using a spatula, once combined kneed the dough for 5 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise covered in a plastic wrap for 30 minutes while the oven preheats to 425 F.
  • Add a pinch of salt and roll out the dough into the desired shape using a rolling pin. It might take a bit of practice before you are able to roll it very thin, so be patient. Place on a parchment covered pizza pan or on a baking tray.
  • Top with your favorite pizza toppings and bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes.

Notes

Since this is a thin pizza crust you don’t want to overcrowd it with toppings. If you put too much the crust will become saggy. I recommend 28-gram / 1 oz cheese per serving. Also, brushing on the sauce helps make sure you don’t put too much.
To make it easier to roll out the dough, use parchment paper under it and plastic wrap over the dough.
I recommend making your pizza dough with yeast. However, if you want you can make it without. Just replace yeast with 0.5 teaspoon baking powder per serving. The dough is a bit sticker and harder to work with, but not by a lot. This is the result of a yeast-free dough:
Don’t skip out on the kneading part, it helps to make the dough less sticky.
